Despite the unfortunate heavy rain last year causing us to cancel the event, Wythall Carnival will be back again this year.

The Carnival committee are planning on a day of entertainment for our village residents and its visitors.

We plan to step back in time to that fateful day for King John and the Barons, with 2015 being the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta. We will bring you a day of medieval festivities. We would like to invite all our regular stall holders, and hopefully some new faces, to join us for the day and maybe get into the theme in some way.

We will have the usual popular Fun Dog Show and the Classic Cars, but the main arena will be a step back to a time of chivalry, serfs and barons, a devious and greedy king and the foundation of our freedoms of living in England.

We are thinking of a court jester for entertainment, maybe some birds of prey and possible some knights doing battle and more.

For our younger residents the games will be based on those of 800 years ago, no simple running to win some sweets, but games of challenge, skill and daring.

More details will follow as we pull things together. For now note the date for your diary - 16th August 2015

To make this work we would like to ask for some help on the Committee please?

We need to find:

  • A new Secretary,
  • A Health and Safety person,
  • People to sell advertising space in the Carnival Progamme,
  • Somebody to help organise and book the stalls
  • And lots of help in setting up and clearing away on the weekend itself.
